Knackered ... but not KO'd
Poor little Sally. Yesterday evening, as we were making dinner, we suddenly noticed that her belly was an alarming shade of beetroot red, and very swollen. Her collar was also frighteningly tight, because her neck was swelling, too.
She is being treated for acute lymphocytic leukaemia, so we immediately called the canine oncologist, and were told to get her to a nearby emergency hospital as soon as possible. Long story short, she was admitted overnight, with bruising and swelling in her abdomen, and put on an IV drip because she was dehydrated. To add insult to injury, she was also kitted out with an Elizabethan Collar to prevent her from removing the IV catheter from her leg. This morning, we picked her up, and drove her the hour and a half to her vet for a raft of blood tests. She has now been switched to a different chemotherapy protocol ... we will have to hope this works better than the one she's been on. So ... here she is, knackered (I'm sure she didn't sleep much in the hospital last night), but not KO'd ... still fighting!
