Flexi-day today. We are having one a term as an experiment. I got to spend the day at a local little coppice clearing and burning.
The place is called Paupers Grave. Over the years the wooden headstone crosses have rotted away and only the metal number plates are left, covered by years of mulching leaf litter. Quite a lot have been found but all in double figures. One of my Year 10 pupils was pulling up a stump and he found this. Number 4, that means it is well over 200 years old.
Had a great day outside in my wellies burning stuff, what more can a man want.
