Drawbridge

I do work with chains when repairing clocks and some have the tiniest links. I was impressed with this chain that I noticed behind the portcullis entrance to Villefranche. Each link is about 50 cms long and must be very heavy. I notice there are a few missing. I wonder what they have been cannibalised for. I don't suppose anyone will be making replacements any time soon..
