Remains

This pile of feathers, together with two bloodstains on a concrete path, was all that remained of a collared dove which had been killed by a raptor, just outside the backdoor - just 2 metres away. I had hung out the birdfeeders over the weekend, which had attracted sparrows, starlings and the doves. Nothing now ventures near the feeders, just like last February, when a sparrowhawk made short shrift of a sparrow.
