Bird Watching.
We had to visit the library to pick up a book J had ordered on model trains and then after much deliberation, headed to Bryngarw House. It was nice to see the sun at last, but it was bitterly cold. We were disappointed to find the cafe was closed so we only went as far as the pond. Took a few pictures of the ducks but decided on this little Nuthatch. I didn't know what it was until i got home and looked it up in my bird book. It says:It forages on trunks of large trees and uniquely able to climb downwards head- first. Unlike woodpeckers and Treecreeper does not use the tail as a prop. The sexes are very similar, but male has darker and more contrasting brick-red flanks and vent. Often attracts attention by loudly hammering at nuts and seeds wedged into crevices. Fairly common, especially in regions with much woodland.
I am so glad i bought my RSPB bird book as i wouldn't have had a clue.
