Homeward Bound

One of those days. A little slow starting this morning, so I deferred a run. At the office a long reassessment for an insurance company, followed by doing the report today. Almost a first. Had a short break part way through writing the report to collect the lads from school. Had to wait while Young L took an inordinate time to find and lace up his shoes. Meanwhile Mr H suddenly remembered his hat and his book, and dashed back to the classroom to get them. after he got back Young L was nowhere to be seen. Big brother found him. whereas Grandpa was stymied.

On the way home Mr H, hat securely on his head, had found a toi toi stalk (like Pampas grass). Of Course Young L wanted one also, and it was easier to complete the break in the stem of a larger one. When not able to convince his younger brother that a swap was a good idea, Mr H lost interest in his and dropped it to quietly start the walk home.

A little further along (after I had sent him ahead to shake the seeds over someone else than me!), two of Young L's classmates came running up full of toi toi envy or admiration; probably both. Young L's left shoe and schoolbag are visible beyond his brother.

I liked this picture because of the ultra cool dude look that Mr H is cultivating. While waiting for him, I saw a number of similarly aged boys with similar hats. Readily available from the $2 shop. His last year at primary school before intermediate. So this year, he is one of the big kids.

By the time the walk home was complete, I had to go back to the report. And still managed to miss tonight's post. Never mind; it's all ready for tomorrow's collection. And then no time for a run. Glad that I thought to take the camera when I collected the boys.
