Olive Tree

The olive tree is a rather hardy species which is drought, disease and fire resistant.  It can live to a fine age.

Today I met Olive in the hospital.  She looked no older than 75.  She loved her food and wanted to go home.  This morning she was told she could leave and she was dressed in a flash. I watched her rip her wrist band over her hand and she was picking at the tape on her arm.  Before anyone noticed she had taken all the tape off and pulled the catheter out.  As blood dripped on the floor, she looked up waiting patiently for the nurse.  With a little initial horror but a lot of care, nurses were on hand to speedily sort her out.

Olive was an endearing lady of 101.


Hospital update:  L was allowed water today (although had already been sneaking some from the taps!) and is looking forward to her first cup of tea tomorrow.  

Tree update: this is definitely not an olive tree.
