A Grand old man

As an offering for Mono Monday here's a bit of my family history.
My Grandfather in 1938. He worked all his life on the steel furnaces just across the road from his house. They raised seven children, all of whom, apart from one killed at Ypres, lived to be 80+.
He was every child's idea of a grandpa, always jovial and pleasant to be with. My Grandmother, mean spirited and waspish, could have been the model for the grandma in the Giles cartoons.
