The News Chronicle - Saturday 29th August 1936

Hot on the heels of Alternateview's Blip yesterday, (but not trying to eclipse it!), is one of two newspapers I found in our loft a couple of years ago.
This cost one penny! The professional golfer, Donald Curtis, reported on here, won the News Chronicle Golf Tournament. The prize - the princely sum of £1,000! The pound was worth something in those days!

PS The paper has yellowed with age - I found it hard to get the tones right here. It is better viewed in LARGE..

PPS. Thanks so much to all of you who sent Mum wishes for her birthday yesterday. I read all of the comments to her and she was delighted! Mum had a lovely day.
