Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Claremont Sunset

Saturday's "See You Later" Serenade was spectacular and it seemed as though our eyes were not big enough to see it all. We were just slightly northwest of our community in the university town of Claremont, California. We could see that the sky was about to light-up so we started looking for a place to park ourselves and we found it at the top of a parking structure.

Once we got the car parked and we stepped out -- the sky was so enormous it seemed impossible to see it all. It was beauty in every direction.

We had received some hard news earlier in the day and we just needed to shake it off and change the scenery. So I asked Mr. Fun if we could go for a drive. We put the three pooches in the car and we were off and going.

I wanted to head toward Laguna Beach and maybe have some dinner there. As we headed west on the 91 Freeway and we could see the thick traffic that was heading east, Mr. Fun decided that he didn't want to chance coming back through that mess later to get home, so he turned north of the 71 Highway and drove through Chino Hills and then gradually worked our way on surface streets to Claremont. The sidewalks were filled with walkers and people were everywhere just enjoying the last of the afternoon.

We stopped at the public library to look through the "friends" shop for used CDs and DVDs. I walked to a cute little boutique next door and found some yummy bright red cinnamon fragranced candles for Valentine decorating. Then I went back into the library to find Mr. Fun and soon we headed to view the sunset.

Once the sun was down, we drove a few more miles east to Rancho Cucamonga to find a BJs Pizza and Brewhouse to have a light dinner.

It was a great way to spend the afternoon and evening and to shake-off some rather crummy news.

Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
