My husband and I joined neighbors in search of life beyond the warmth and coziness of our couches to venture outside and on to the frozen bay. Children climbed the mounds of snow which were created by waves prior to the bay's freezing while others donned ice skates so they could say, 'Remember the winter of 2014 when we went ice skating out on east bay?'

It is a novelty walking on water...
