Opening the door on history

Opened a door in the tower room of the church and there, pinned to the back of the door, was a list of hymns to be sung. Some were for Christmas and Easter, others were under the headings of Spiritual songs, Male Voices and Miscellaneous. Interesting as it was to see this, it was more the date that caught my eye - 24th June 1939. In just 10 weeks time, war would be declared.
