Soutra

Today was an especially lovely day. First off, I attended an inter club competition where 12 local camera clubs competed for the title of the Newton Grange 12 Way Inter-club competition. It was an absolute delight to learn that my camera club earned first place and one the trophy for this year.

After the competition I headed into the Scottish Borders for a scenic drive and came across this wonderful medieval building - Soutra Hospital, which stood on the Royal Road (the Anglo / Scottish highway) from the 12th to the 17th centuries, acting as a refuge for the needy and wayfarers. The site was high and very exposed but the views across the Borders were spectacular.
