Very RAW photography

I have hitherto hardly ever shot in RAW. I find Photoshop Elements monumentally complicated and confusing. However, as a MAC user I've been told that Aperture for MACs is much easier to use and very compatible with iPhoto. Also I'm given to understand that Aperture is as good as Lightroom for editing photos

I'd love feedback about Aperture from other MAC users. Please comment.
