We had an interesting conversation with a local fisherman waiting on the pier for a boat to come in with its catch.

"I have three boats - I hate them all, really hate them. Who'd want to go out in a boat in weather like this?"

You can see his point and it goes some way towards dispelling the romantic view of the fishermen braving all weathers to bring in the catch. They do it because the have to and it can be a foul job. So it might be good to remember that next time we tuck into fish and chips!
