Vintage ice-skates

Yesterday's and today's Dutch success at the Olympic wintergames with speedskating made me think about the old-fashioned ice-skates which have been traveling with us during all our moves (though we certainly didn't use them in Singapore). They're in a sorry state now, due to the humid conditions in Singapore and rather forgotten. I only found them hidden in one of the left over mover's boxes late last year when looking for the Christmas decorations, but these were the kind of ice-skates I learned to skate on when I was a small child. They're called "Friese doorlopers". You wear them with shoes and have to to cross the laces and tighten them really carefully.
