Koi
I have been a member of blipfoto for a week and the experience has been life changing in my little world of photography. I have always been attracted to abstract art and colorful photography and this website has allowed me to share the pictures that I have taken and in turn, feel very passionately about. Getting feedback and comments has not only increased my desire to want to improve, but it has also given me more confidence in my work. In the past week, my camera has gone with me everywhere. My camera case backpack has gone to the gym, the grocery store, my son's preschool (although it has been there several times), and today, it went with me to the mall. I had no idea that I would be shooting my blip photo right outside of Nordstrom today. I had a relatively quick errand to run and intended to be in and out. On the way out of the store, I spotted the beautiful koi pond that I have passed countless times. Because of blipfoto, I stopped and pulled out my camera. In the 15 minutes that I was there, I experimented with different shutter speeds and lighting options and also befriended the caretaker of the koi pond. The woman saw me taking photos and came up to introduce herself. She started tapping on the glass and within seconds, over 20 large colorful koi were within inches of my camera. She asked me to drop off a print to her office sometime if any of the shots turned out. This is a request that I will follow through on. She called these fish her babies and sometime soon, in the near future, she will get this close-up photo of a couple of her vibrantly colored babies!
