The Big Glen

Glen More used to be busier. Hundreds were evicted from here in the 19th century and now houses are few and far between.

The route out of the glen takes you over the beallach "Mam Ratagan" and is still a favourite walk. In the past 40 odd years I have walked, cycled and run over this hill. I have driven motorcycles, cars, 7.5 ton lorries, Camper vans and caravans along the narrow road and I still get the same feeling of excitement as I enter this glen. There is a sense of isolation that you get here that is similar to having crossed to an island and makes it hard to leave. Try it sometime.
