Kandy - Helga's Folly

This was the surprise of the day....
It is described by the Lonely Planet as a "35-room hotel/art gallery/surrealist dream..the most over-the-top and truly extraordinary hotel in Sri Lanka...It's run and designed by the outlandish Helga da Silva, who grew up in a world of 1950s Hollywood celebrities." Apparently the rock group Stereophonics wrote a song about her.
We stopped by for a drink and were shown around. The feel was of a private house/palace decorated by and for artists. It doesn't seem to be run for commercial reasons - only one guest was staying there.
