Scadoxus multiflorus subsp. Katherinae

My mother would have turned 90 today. She and my friend Dot are the only people who really understood my excitement about the garden, the plants and flowers which grow there.
This plant is apparently very toxic and for some reason does not flower every year so I'm especially excited to have two flower this year. Maybe it's because of all the rain we have had this summer. The flower head is almost as big as an agapanthus, to give you some perspective.
Sorry I've been so scarce but life has been busy (and rewarding). I'm always on the look out for blips although haven't had my camera with me all that often.
