38/365 Reading and Math

It was my once monthly day to read to the first graders. It's really a love fest: they love being read to and having a special visitor in their class, and I love spending time with them, choosing books I think they'll enjoy, and bringing those books to life. I was drawn to "Paul Meets Bernadette" initially because of the title, then I turned the pages and fell in love with the illustrations. Reading the back flap I learned that this was the author's first book and that she painted the pictures while her baby daughter slept by her side. This fact made me want to read the story, which, happily, I found charming. Book sold, story told, happy endings all around.
