Diary of an Edinburgher

I never learn...

A & B, who were distraught at the thought of us moving from our previous lovely abode, love this flat even more. B is a gardener of note, and pointed out lots of plants that we have the front ‘garden’. Which I have promptly forgotten.

We had a great night last night, a lovely meal, a bubbly and a couple of bottles of zingy reds… but unfortunately, three people were being very sensible, and the fourth person, despite being well into her dotage, never learns…

I did not feel 100% this morning. But fortunately, the hangover peaked between 6am and 8am, and luckily the visitors had a lie in till 9am, so I was just coming right, thank goodness, after a late breakfast when I forced some porridge down. Some would find porridge has the opposite effect on them...

A lovely sunny day, so we had a wander round town, starting with the Chinese Warriors, and I see it finishes tonight. From there we went to the Dovecot Studios and watched the people weaving huge tapestries. What patience they have!

A good coffee in Brew Lab, then on to the National Library. They always have something interesting on there, and at the moment is a terrific A-Z exhibition on how much Scots have contributed to the world. Not to be missed!

We had lunch in Victoria Street, sans vino, so just as well I had recovered enough to manage bread and butter pudding… then we wandered along to the quirky cafe FYUL, where the lone skeleton has been joined by a friend for Valentine's Day.

A quiet night in front of the TV is anticipated - old age certainly slows you down!

B is going to the rugby match tomorrow. Depending on whether the predicted storm reaches us by then, I’m jealous.
