Popes Passage

Popes Passage provides a short cut from Lewes High Street to the Castle Ditch. Why its called Popes Passage I have no idea but a few years ago there was a rumour that the Council (which clearly doesn't understand what apostrophes are for) had decided to ban street names which they thought susceptible to a 'lewd' interpretation. They'll be covering up piano legs next.....
