These storm damaged trees have to be removed so gravel trucks can come in to replenish the beach bund to prevent the village being inundated with seawater during storms. People have turning up with their chainsaws to cut wood for their fires. There will be enough firewood to last several years. There is a pathway that used to enable walks under the trees but it is a bit difficult to negotiate these days.
