Cart jousting

I had to buy a new pole to try and break up the ice dam lodged at the end of the gutter - our old one got jammed after someone (not me) tried to use it like a javelin to clear snow from a big pine tree, but instead of going up, it went directly into the trunk.
I managed to make things harder for myself by getting the pole first, and then maneuvering around the store to get everything else on my list. I kept thinking that I should put it down and come back for it, but I didn't - more stubborn than sense as my dad would say.
I only hit one person (he was fine and really made WAY too big a deal of the whole thing) and a couple of trash cans. Which isn't bad for me without a pole.
