Ranges

Varied shades of haze define mountains as they become more distant. The highest is Kitt Peak which is 62 miles as the crow flies according to the highway map. At an elevation of 6883 ft, Kitt Peak is the highest point in the Quinlan Mountains. It is home to the National Optical Astronomy Observatory. The Mayall 4 meter telescope is well defined at the top.

This view gives me an sense of the enormous distances and visibilities in the Mountain Southwest. I remain simply awed.
