Edinburgh Tram
Edinburgh Trams... the pride of Scotland. Three years late, half the original scope and over three times the original cost. And expected to run at an _operating_ loss for at least the first fifteen years. A project pursued with a denial of reality such as only a public sector could manage.
But after all that time, and all that money down the drain, the tracks have been laid, and the trams themselves are being tested.
They've been in testing for a while now, but this is the first time I have managed to snatch a photo of one of these rare creatures. Here it sits at Edinburgh Airport, waiting for the proud moment when it can finally start taking fare-paying passengers from the City Centre to the Airport.
At a loss. To let it compete on price with the buses. Which will be faster.
