For A Yorkshire Gallon

Today is the day to bottle up a five gallon brew of Barola red wine that I made from a kit.

Now one would expect a five gallon wine kit to more or less fill five separate gallon jars. Not a bit of it.

When this first happened to me a few months ago I feared for a moment that I had made up the recipe incorrectly, and had failed to add sufficient water.

After that I went off to accurately measure the volume of my containers.

One really can get a quart in to a pint pot after all because the gallon flagons do in fact contain rather more than a gallon.
