Between fen and mountains

There is some corner of a foreign land...

I really cannot see the point of flying nationalistic flags at home or abroad except at appropriate events such as the Olympic Games or on castles and embassies and such like. I am happy to be both English and British but also see myself as a citizen of Europe and indeed the world. I have an especial affinity with France as many know. It is for this reason that I was not appalled when the Astra satellite big switch off happened today. We can no longer get the BBC channels and the ITV channels may follow. The new satellite footprint requires a ground mounted dish of nearly two metres for adequate reception. There are internet solutions but these require VPN computer setups and set top boxes. I am not wedded to British TV as are some ex pats so I am happy to watch local TV. With digital TV some programmes can be watched in their original language anyway.
