Tree Ferns
Not the beautiful New Zealand ferns, but attractive in their own way.
These were growing on the trees near the Grotto at Stourhead.
Another battering with the weather and suddenly a break and a decision to go out. Waterproofed up drove to Stourhead where for once we had an original idea, we were the only people walking there. Managed a walk round the lower paths and realised the vision those landscapers had. The trees look lovely with no foliage and the outline skeleton can be seen. One trunk we passed was from a tree which had blown done on 23rd Dec, it was 120 years old. Everything has a finite life though, and room for more planting has been made. We had an or so without rain. Lucky us!
