365:36 Allsorts
On this day in 1953 the sweet rationing was abandoned - just in time for my infancy. Mother always said we did well for sweets when we were little - people were so delighted to be able to buy them again that cute little nippers did well for sugary gifts. Incidentally, I was born in Sheffield, the home of Bassett's , the inventors of Liquorice Allsorts. Back in those days of course the sweets themselves would have been far more photogenic. Natural flavours and colours may be better for us but they don't shoot as well, do they?
