Count the number of Sika deer!
Arne, where a herd of about fifty deer is moving from an open field into the shelter of woodland as it starts to rain.
I have been noticed, and have slowly moved to within about twenty yards of the closest of the Sika. To the right, three does are indulging their curiosity and looking straight at me without thought of concealment. You will find that several other deer are also looking at me, but from behind trees; even the stag at left may believe that I cannot see him.
The white doe, who looks like a juvenile, is not an albino but leucistic. I had never seen either variety until today. (This is a distinction which you can investigate for yourselves.)
