Independence Palace

These are the famous gates that the tanks crashed through at the end of the Vietnam war. Now all that passes through them is buses full of tourists! And they open them first!

We thought all the tourist attractions would be closed as it's New Years day so we did a walking tour round the city. It is a nice city. Much more modern than I expected. When we passed the palace it was open so managed to tick it off the list.
