Place de la Republique

After a lazy morning E and I went to the Place de la Republique. After a lovely coffee at Café Monde & Medias on the square we headed to the area around Place de la Bastille.

Had a look in the arty shops at Viaduc des Arts before a great walk along the Promenade Plantee (a green walkway which runs the length of the 12th arrondissement following the old railway line – the walkway is supported by the Viaduc des Arts).

We had a quick beer at Le Chat Bossu followed by our first Paris crepe at Kon a la Maison before a quick look around the Marche Beauvau (an indoor food market) and some vintage clothes shops on Rue de la Roquette.

In the evening we went for Mexican food and cocktails at Candelaria – a tiny little restaurant with space for only around 12 people to sit and eat. You get to the speakeasy style cocktail bar through an anonymous white door at the back of the restaurant – well worth a visit.
