The Country Market

In the centre of Oswestry is The Memorial Hall which is the largest meeting room in the town. This embroidery is one of a number of panels which hang on the wall depicting things connected with the hall. They were all made by a local art group. The green patterns around the outside are copies of the tiles decorating the inside of the building.

This panel is to commemorate the WI Country market which moved from the market to the Memorial Hall a number of years ago. It's a much bigger venue for them and they fill the hall with stalls, selling lots of different things including a cup of tea or coffee for 50p which can't be bad!
