Dumbing down - number 2

My TENS machine has arrived. I did leave it rather late in ordering, but thank goodness it is here on time, despite the postal strikes. Thing is, it has been addressed to a completely new county called North Thumberland. It sounds like something out of a children's fairytale. I know the girl I spoke to was in Epsom, but surely she had heard of the county I live in? It staggers me how ignorant some people are of the northernmost counties. Many people I've met over the years had either not heard of Northumberland, or thought I lived in Scotland. And people wonder why there is a north-south divide?
