Manuel

Manuel was one of the waiters in the Viva Flor restaurant, where we had dinner tonight. It's a favourite place of ours, very simple, and specialises in roast chicken, which we usually have with batatas Portuguese (kind of like thick crisps) and a tomato and palmhearts salad. It was closed for many months last year for renovations and we always get nervous when that happens as the changes aren't always for the better. In this case, we think it's lost a bit of its charm, but the food and service are still good and we'll get used to the new decor. We were delighted to see the older waiters were still there and they all gave the renovations a big Brasilian thumbs up!

Fingers crossed we get a better night's sleep than last night: mozzies came visiting and we were up and down all night swiping them with our battery operated tennis racket thing, putting on mozzie cream and then antiseptic cream when we were bitten. And despite keeping our ceiling fan on, it was still hot! Not a good night!
