It started with a recipe from Pinterest

You should know by now any blip starting like that has a story.

In the spring the garden is completely full of violets. I spend days pulling them out and throwing them away. Here is the kicker, I love violets. I never wear a perfume but use violet soap. When I do wear a scent it is violets. It is extremely difficult to find here and I love it.
Ok back on track.
In my travels on the crack that is otherwise known as Pinterest, I found a recipe for violet liqueur. I knew I had to make it.
The recipe was a bit new age.
It starts with 8 cups of violet blossoms preferably picked at midnight under a full moon while dancing naked at dawn. First of all, 8 cups of blossoms take for EVER to pick. So you cover them with boiling water and steep them for 2 days in the fridge. You then make a simple syrup and combine it with.......wait for it..........vodka!!!!!!!
It comes out beautiful. It's purple with a light delicate scent. And get this it's all vodka. I floated some flowers in the middle of it.
I made a lot of them. Then, I went back and made more because I hadn't scared the neighbors lately and needed another reason to dance naked under the moon I had to do something with the 8 gazillion violets I have in my garden.
Aaannnddddddddd
It has a shelf life of about a month. So now I had about 8 jars of this stuff. No one said how to drink it. I tried it over ice, in OJ, last resort I added it to champagne. Let's face it you can add lighter fluid to champagne and It would taste better than this did.
I gave it to friends, to sisters, to nieces, I was paying people to take it out of my hands. This is when you know who your friends are.
A lot of my friends took them home and placed them next to the jars of the rose petal jelly I made a few years ago. That time a friend actually came in and took the spoon OUT of my hands and commanded me to step back from the 42 jars of rose petal jelly I had made.
They were pretty for about a month. Years later they are just plain scary. and probably radioactive or something

So my father has made me promise no more foodstuffs made from violets or roses. I promised
However,
The other day, I found a recipe for dandelion tonic.
Almost time to scare the neighbors again
:)
