High Tide

High tide this morning at 08.54 was supposed to be 4.7m.

After dropping my son at school and running a couple of quick errands I popped down to the seafront. Charmouth beach was completely engulfed by the sea. The swell on the sea was so high, that the waves were crashing right up to the cliffs on the eastern side of the beach. The car park wasn't fairing much better, with half of the beach thrown up over half of it and 20ft waves throwing sea water up which was running across the car park like a lake.

A quick walk around the back of the visitor centre and a higher viewing point across the western side of the beach revealed the steps down to the beach and the walkway were completely covered up by the sea. Some impressive waves were being thrown up and I got completely soaked whilst taking pictures, of which there were far too many to choose from. Glad my battery had run out on my camera though. The case on my i-phone kept it fairly well protected, but not so sure the camera would have survived this mornings expedition quite so well.

(Back blipped the last 3 days - really struggling to keep up with everything - life is so full at the moment!)

You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.
Henry David Thoreau
