Several people have expressed consternation about Friday's blip, so I thought I'd explain even though a way forward is not yet clear.

I have an unusual form of diabetes which is hereditary and called MODY 3 caused by a dominant gene. It now seems likely I have passed that gene onto James. We need to confirm this with blood tests and although he is not unwell, I felt so sick and guilty on Friday.... When eventually he came home, after going out with friends, at 9.30pm that night, it was he that was comforting me!

Since I was a teenager with the condition, there have been so many advances in the food options available and the treatment of diabetes that if necessary, I'm sure my lovely 16 year old boy will take it in his stride.
