Ihilani Marriot Hotel
Coastline at Ko Olina, Hawaii. Very windy and big waves. This is along the southwest coast. On the north side, where the best surfing is, they are expecting the biggest waves in ten years, up to 40 feet, on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they won't be good surfing waves.
Spent all day yesterday traveling yesterday. Up at 5 AM, flew out of Minneapolis, 3 hr layover in San Francisco turned into a 5 hr layover. Arrived in Hawaii at 8 PM their time. Got to bed 2 AM our time. Long day! Woke up at 4 AM Hawaii time. Up at 4:30. Monte went down to the lobby for his free coffee and paper while I did some yoga and had a cup of tea.
We're staying at the Beach Club just down the road from the Ihilani in a two bed two bath condo with our friends, Bruce and Barb. We walked along the beach walk, about a mile and a half one way, to have breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, the Naupaka Terrace. I had Eggs Benedict which was fabulous. Walked a couple of blocks to the Marketplace after breakfast for water, wine and booze. Spent the rest of the day lounging around the pool and hot tubbing and recovering from the long journey. Went to Longboards, our resorts beachside restaurant, for dinner. Had a lobster roll for dinner and a piña colada for dessert. Lovely sunset.
