Hard at Work

This is my mate Ewan hard at work painting the walls in the new warehouse that the charity that he is involved with, has just acquired.

I say involved but the truth is, it is a project that he is has been fully immersed in for a number of years - simply this ....... feeding those who cannot feed themselves.

I first pictured Ewan in the early days of the Foodbank when one of the first collections of food was undertaken at a local Morrison's - back then a garage was used to store the food..but now he has got this warehouse and the Northwest Edinburgh Foodbank is growing.....which in some ways is sad because it is a reflection that in today's society, there are still many people who cannot feed themselves or their families.

Ewan got involved after seeing the program "The Secret Millionaire" where in that show, the "Millionaire" was helping out at a foodbank (I believe he has then gone on to be further involved in setting up many more around the country).......Ewan could not just watch the program and not do any thing...and with the love and support of his wife, the involvement of his crazy friends like Geoff and a willingness of an army of volunteers, the foodbank now helps many, many people.

We can often be moved by situations that we see, but how many of us are like Ewan..willing and believing that we can make a difference - the journey may be vast but it will not happen unless we are willing to take that first step...
