Still Here!

By Yorkhull

Its my room!

Six months after we moved to our new offices I have, today, entered my new room. This was not the room promised to me and as yet it is devoid of artefacts to make it home but I can shut the door! I thus leave my hot desk so memorably captured here last month.

It is not the greatest blip but I will take a further one once I have made it my own.

Having my own office is important to me. I have reflected on why this is so. I have concluded that since I first started work in 1977 I have had my own office. I have got used to the space, seclusion and personal freedom it brings me. Over the years open planning, hot desking and other ideas have been introduced and whilst I have had to preside over this happening to my small team I have resisted it for me. I think 38 years makes it difficult for me to adapt and I just feel, even in this empty and soulless room as it stands today, better than the soulless, loud and faceless hot desk I have occupied since last July.

So my blip is a celebration of my restored freedoms to shut my door and get on with my work.
