Sundown
This afternoon’s very high tide meant that most of the birds that normally feed at the mouth of the Esk were on the Levenhall lagoon ponds including hundreds of oystercatchers. A few birds were beginning to fly back when I took the photo of the sun setting behind the Pentland Hills with the hill of Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat also visible in the distance. Behind me were the excited shouts as the last race took place at the Musselburgh Race Course. We had seen the previous race as we walked alongside the fences from the bird hide but hadn’t realised that there was another still to go in today’s Scottish Cheltenham Trials. That would have been exciting to have watched them over the jumps.
