Clackmannanshire Bridge
I was crossing the Clackmannanshire Bridge today and thought I would stop for a pic.
The bridge corsses the River Forth at Kincardine. It was opened in 2008, and it supplements the older Kincardine Bridge, which is still in use. The main deck of this elegant new bridge is 1.2km long, and is supported on twenty five piers, each of which is filled with eight hundred and forty tonnes of concrete!
Behind the bridge are the Ochil Hills, and beside it one of the massive pylons carrying power from Longannet Power Station to Central Scotland. I have not been able to find the height of this particular pylon, but apparently its southern twin is an amazing 153.9m tall - that's over five hundred feet!
