Helen's Tower

Took a walk up to Helen's Tower today for the first time. It's a lovely place built in 1861 by Lord Dufferin and named in honour of his mother Helen. It has an exact replica, the Ulster tower, built at Thiepval in France by the families of those from the 36th Ulster div who lost their lives in the war. They trained at Helen's tower before going to France to fight. It's now used as holiday accommodation. You can stay in it by contacting the Irish landmark trust
