Rough Weather

We went out briefly and returned via the North side where the wind was driving huge waves into Bantry Bay at low tide. Through the heavy mist were the ghostly shadows of lines of ships sheltering from the storm.

Getting out of the car was a trial of strength and it was nearly impossible to stay standing. I grabbed this quickly and retreated. It doesn't show the force of the waves but gives a good idea of the heavy cloud cover. This, remember was low tide. The tide can be up to 6 metres here so around high tide at 5:45 I imagine things were quite different, but we didn't venture out for obvious reasons - the roads were already strewn with debris from the previous tide.

Late blip tonight - the internet has been down most of this afternoon.
