Nature On The Seawall

It's been a lovely day today on the east coast of Essex. While out walking along the sea wall this morning I came across this bird.
We have been trying to identify it but seem to be having a bit of trouble. We wondered if it may be a Plover but uncertain. If anybody knows can they let me know please.
