Hockey on a cold day
What a beautiful morning - the sunshine was glorious after all that rain. I went down to the village (but forgot my camera) and by the time I went out again in the afternoon it had rained, a rainbow appeared and then the sun came out again.
I went down to the village as I have a black tie function on Friday and have nothing to wear!. Some of the boutiques have sales on, a hangover from the new year sales I think, and I could not believe my luck when I found the most beautiful taffeta dress in my size and in my favourite colour that was marked down by 75%. I always feel pleased when I get such a bargain.
I went to watch Luke playing hockey after lunch, and it was so bitterly cold - the wind was positively arctic. I decided not to blip an action shot, I chose this shot instead as I liked all the vertical lines in the image. The number 4 player is Luke - he had a good game today, played very well but sadly they lost by one goal.
We came straight home after the hockey (Luke did not let me stay for the after match tea as he was going out tonight in London and wanted to get home quickly)and I had a problem getting to our house - in the time I was at the hockey the river had swelled and flooded the high street yet again and the village was blocked off. I had to go around another route and so did every other car so there was a long line of traffic.
We had a delicious supper that I had prepared this morning (beef and mushroom casserole cooked in Guinness) and now a relaxing evening....
