Feeling the Fallout...

Okay so I've written this description three times now and it's lost it. Maybe it's not meant to be...

Okay. The little guy above is from an Xbox 360 game I love called Fallout 3. It's a weird mix of post apocalyptic cyberpunk with 50s Americana. Set after a nuclear war in the 50s, people are rushed to vaults to wait out the nuclear fallout. But it turns out the vaults are actually rather sinister experiments run by the government to see how normal people deal with captivity. When people start to escape, technology has advanced far beyond anything we have now and so you end up with a blend that looks like The Brady Bunch on futuristic acid...

Fallout is basically everything I love about post apocalyptic fiction with the bonus of being able to propel your own way through the story by creating your own arc. My favourite stuff from this genre tends not to deal with the actual disaster but the aftermath and how normal everyday people change as the world around them changes into a populationless, infertile wasteland.

Zombies are another real love of mine. But that's for another Blip... ;)
